7 He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. 8 His heart is ssteady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.
There can be little doubt that we (Americans) have fallen on some difficult times. Stock prices go up and down with the feelings of people on Wall Street, the number of foreclosures are at a record high, and in Chicago people are actually stealing man hole covers to make some extra cash.
Our verse today, calls us to be calm though the winds blow hard all around us. People are getting nutty. They are suddenly becoming frugal, saving their pennies and worrying about everything.
Those of us who are Christians should be the calm in this storm. We should be the ones that our concerned co-workers and neighbors turn to in this crisis. God will provide. It isn’t easy, I know. There is a chance I or my husband could loose our jobs. There is a chance that we won’t be able to seel our house when we need to. There is always a chance right around the corner for total devestation, sometimes God steers us away from the trouble, but sometimes He also leads us through it.
LORD, help me to trus you for my daily bread. Whether I am employed or not, whether I eat today or not, please grant me peace. Please allow your peace to flow through me and go out and bless those around me who worry and fret.
Are you worried? Or do you trust God to meet your every need when you need it?
