Isaiah 1:17
learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.
When we open up Isaiah 1 we have only to read a few lines to realize that God is quite upset with his people. They have been like a million little yo-yos; they love and follow God, the don’t love and follow God, they love and follow God, they don’t love and follow God, you get the idea.
God is tired of their meaningless sacrifices and their prayers for help. He wants their hearts and minds, not their offerings and their interest. God has not changed in all this time. The point that the Isrealites missed and the one we so often miss is that God does not want our things, he wants our hearts. And how do we show him that our hearts are His, we seek after the things that are most important to him. And what is most important to God? Well, many things, but throughout scripture he tells that loving others is crucial, and second only to loving him.
Have you put your love for God into action today, or do you just give love for God lip service. Make sure that your core beliefs are showing a love for God and others. Seek out oppression and stamp it out. Seek out needy children and meet their physical needs. Find a widow or homeless person and care for their needs today. Put your love in action before it dies, or worse yet, before your heart turns to stone.
Father God, show me who you want me to minister today. Please put people in my path who I can love and help. Give me eyes to see, ears to hear and hands to help TODAY Lord, before I let my head hit the pillow show me one person to minister to today, I pray.
