1 John 2:27
As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
For several days now my devotions have lead me through the Bible, to different passages that remind us that through faith in Christ, we have all we need. In fact, teachers, pastors and authors COULD lead us astray. Not all will, some are great, but you have all you need!
Pastors are a great tool, small groups can help us and encourage us, books are great, but NOTHING should stand in place of God. Time alone with HIM everyday should be my bread and butter. I have everything I need. I will be praying about this today, and I will be quiet and listen today, as this may even mean that I need to set aside more time than I thought to just be still and listen.
I know the value of personal time in God’s Word daily, I can already see the change in me from a consecutive 5 days in his word this week, but I had not counted on Him telling me he needs more prayer time. Of course I know this to be true in my head, but I don’t have time set aside everyday to pray and be quiet. I have devotional time worked out, sort of, but not a specific prayer and quiet time.
I am a commuter, and have “down time” in the car, I will see if that time could be used to talk and especially listen to God. Do you have quiet time with God daily? Devotional time daily? It is all you need.
